Have used the Refra several times , some difficulty on some of the newer doors but alas failure last week . Last used the device about 6 mths ago went to use it last week and found it has become so hard and brittle on applying some pressure to go over the door it snapped ! Seems the end of a small clever device for me . CFR Vale of Glam .
I was lucky enough to win my pair of shears free from this site, so firstly thanks
I like Admin have taken every opportunity to try out the rip-shears and everything I have attempted to cut has done so like cutting through butter, awesome tool, easy to use, takes up no more room really.
I also have to agree with Admin, in that I had difficulty putting the rip-shears onto my shears as I also found the plastic to bur when trying to tighten it up, in fact mine is a little loose and wobbly, but still works well.
So my only complaint would be the plastic I guess, maybe needs to be a stronger plastic and maybe a foam cushion to help the rip-shears from wobbling around.
Overall AWESOME
Definately an easier way of keeping your tape handy and is great in most situations,
My only complaint is that no matter how much I tighten it, it still slips from where I hve secured it (as per instructions) but I simply re-tighten every now and then.
other wise Superb.
I received my RipShears and was really excited about it after having seen the ripshears.com video.
Ok what did I think. Well I found putting the ripshears onto my shears really easy, however I felt that the plastic that it was constructed from is maybe a little too soft as the small securing bolts upon trying to tighten just burred the plastic. and has left it a little loose on the shears.
Regardless of this, I have taken every opportunity to test the ripshears on every piece of material (thick or thin) that I have managed to get my hands on. And WOW there is nothing it has not cut through with ease.
So Although I believe the plastic needs to be a bit stronger, this is an awesome tool to keep in your armoury so to speak.
would have been full marks if not for the plastic, sorry.
My name is Steve and I am an EMT in the Vale of Glamorgan, we have a large number of premises in our area, usually flats, where there is a single entry door and off that can be a number of flats with their own entry doors. This piece of kit is so simple to look at, you would be forgiven for saying "what is all the fuss about, it's a bit of plastic, that's all", well this bit of plastic has been used on EVERY shift I have done since obtaining it, and it has allowed the next crew or service immediate access to the property without having to ring a bell and wait.
Not only that it has proved very useful not just for following services/crews but for me and my partner, I have gone back to the vehicle to get stretcher / carry chair, but because of this door stop I no longer have broken pens, nor do i have to scout around for anything to shove in the door like a newspaper, as inevitably another occupant comes along and opens the door, drops whatever was wedging the door, and back to square one....
This simple piece of plastic is invaluable in our job and would recommend it to anyone.
EMT Vale of Glamorgan
The book is really easy to read which makes it so addictive. The chaptering is excellent with each covering a different area of Ambulance life e.g. 'Hoax callers and timewaster', 'creepy calls', 'hit and run', 'sensory insults' (this chapter was probably my favourite) and many more.
I was expecting a little more humour but it was a bit thin although that made no differnece to the enjoyment of the book. The book mainly expresses the feelings and opinions of the author, I found I could relate to these easily as would any other EMT/Para working for the NHS, this doesn't make it any less enjoyable for some one outside the Ambulance service though. It does provide a real insight into what crews have to deal with day/night 365 effectively behind the scenes in what often appears to be an unseen world raising many points/issues that people don't realise crews have to face (It's not what the T.V. makes the job out to be).
Over all the book is a real journey of emotion, insight and hopefully a new awareness. In an easy to read book perfect for tackling is small sections if time is limited or you just want to escape for 20 min. The descriptions make it easy to picture the events in your imagination, and for the faint hearted there isn't much in the way of blood and gore.
Review from amazon

Fabulous text that has quickly become a best source about ECGs. Easy to understand text about ECGs and Rhythm Strip interpretation. Far more than that though it also has sections on pacemakers and cardiac rhythm drugs. Always my first recommendation to those wanting to learn more about ECGs I have 3 of the 4 editions in my library!
Excellent read, was handed the book down by a friend/colleague and wow the memories came flooding back. Suberb book
Very interesting read and easy to read, but to be honest i only read two issues because they were freebies at the ESS this year.
Would not pay the price they are asking for it, I would rather continue to pay the EMJ.
sorry guys
Truly brilliant book, really nicely laid out and easy to read. not your normal textbook. this one focuses on what you really need to know.
I am Forever picking my copy up over and over to re-read.
Amazing
